Inclusion and SEND
Inclusion is part of everything we do at Deptford Park. We celebrate and respect the differences between people and value what makes each person unique. We are committed to creating a school where every child feels valued, supported and able to succeed.
We believe that:
- All children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) should have access to a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum across all areas of learning.
- Children with SEND learn best when they are included alongside their classmates and are supported to participate fully in school life whenever possible.
- All staff should be equipped to meet the needs of children with SEND and receive ongoing training to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence.
- Teachers are responsible for the learning, progress and wellbeing of every child in their class.
- Teachers and teaching assistants work together to provide effective support, ensuring that children with SEND receive the help they need, primarily within the classroom environment.
We are proud to have a 40-place unit for children with Severe Learning Difficulties as part of Deptford Park. For more information, please visit the SLD section of our website. To apply for a place in one of our SLD classes, consultation must be made via your local authority’s SEN department.
